Goats on motorcycles, Chad

Today I saw a goat and two men on a motorcycle (a small one).  I wish I could have taken a picture.

When I saw this scene this morning, I didn't know how to react.  After three months here, I'm now used to seeing something strange every day.

At first it was the minivans packed with people - when I say packed I literally mean it!  It is crazy to see how they overload the top of these cars with carpets, wardrobes, and all sorts of unimaginable things.

Cars pass you on your right, motorcycles cut you off, every day accidents happen and people incur broken legs - it sounds harsh and it is.

I also see people crossing the streets without looking and if you honk at them they look at you as if you did something wrong.  They even cross the road in the middle of traffic circles!  And most oddly, they collect, smash, and sell rocks.  I'm not sure what the point of this is or if it is even profitable but at least it gives them something to do aside from getting into motorcycle accidents.

A common phrase from one of my friends: ''Some of these people are so weird."

Did you know Chadians use thick sticks to clean their teeth?  It's a common sight to see here everyday.  I hope you value your electric toothbrush.
