Happy Orthodox Christmas

Today Christmas is celebrated in Moldova.  We call it the old style because the family gathers at my grandmother's house.  It is fun and loud.

In the morning my parent's house has been visited by carol-singers.  It is said that the house has been blessed if the carol-singers visit you.  The tradition is to welcome them and in sign of thanks and reward we gave them candies and a very small amount of money.

Today I visited my grandma, so did 20 of my relatives (children and grandchildren).  It was really crazy because three of her great grand children join us, a three year old, a one year old and a four year old running between our feet.

That's how Christmas is spent in Moldova, eating lots of food, drinking lots of wine, vodka, and the loud noise can't be missing.

Ps: My Mom and I made some traditional sarmale.  They were delicious.
